Good Afternoon Ms. Rodwell
My name is Aliaksei Bogdanets and I want to become a Civil Engineer. For now, it’s undeclared
because I need to take 2 levels of math so CCNY engineer department could accept me on my
major. Originally, I born in Minsk, Belarus. English is not my first language and I am feel more
comfortable to speak and write on Russian language. I graduated from International High school
in Brooklyn. In high school, I had class where we try to understand what a faculty in college will
work best for me. I realized that it will be technical! Most likely, it will be “Industrial and Civil
Engineering”. I am attracted by the work of a developer, a creator, namely a design engineer.
Also, I knew that the demand for design engineers is quite high. They can get jobs in both
public and private repair and construction companies.
I choose this career because I want to help and improve life of people. I feel that it will be
interesting for me to study, since this specialty contains the creativity beginnings necessary for
the design building, engineering skills for the calculation of building structures and constrictions
production. I am sure that my work will give me the opportunity to participate in the design and
construction of iconic places of our beloved city. One of my biggest dreams is to build and
design tennis center in NYC. I have this dream because I am also professional tennis player that
playing tennis already 13 years. I am still competing in the professional tennis tournaments. I
played for national junior team in my country where I born. I would love to open another tennis
center in our beautiful city to develop professionals and people that would love this sport. Tennis
helps you deal with physical, mental, emotional and social challenges which in turn increases
your capacity to handle stress. From alertness to tactical thinking, tennis enhances the neural
connections in your brain. Kids who play tennis regularly get better grades and achieve higher
in school.
I dream that walking along the streets of our glorious city, I will be able to admire the buildings
that were built according to my project. I dream that my children and grandchildren will be
proud of me: after all, the objects made from the drawings of their father and grandfather will
be beautiful and modern. I am sure that my dream will come true and I will become an
engineer, a professional with a capital letter!
Sincerely,
Aliaksei Bogdanets
